BITSAT 2012 Important Dates and Deadlines | How to Apply

Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences (BITS), Pilani has announced that it will conduct BITSAT 2012 Online from May 10, 2012 to June 9, 2012 for admissions to its First Degree Programmes like B.E. (Hons), M.Sc. (Tech) and others at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad Campus. Candidates who have passed their 10+2 from any recognized Central or State Board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply. Besides, they should have an aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with at least 60% marks in each subject.

 Only applicants who have either cleared their 10+2 in the year 2011 or will be completing the same in the year 2012 can apply. Those who are already studying in BITS at any of its campuses cannot appear for the exam. Those who rank first in their respective State or Central Board will directly be given admission to the program of their choice without considering their BITSAT 2012 scores. Application forms can be submitted by February 15, 2012 while test centres allotted to candidates will be announced on February 25, 2012. Applicants can reserve dates to appear for the test from Feb. 29 – March 20, 2012 and Hall tickets with instructions are available for download from April 14 – April 30, 2012.

Test center allotment and announcement to candidates : 25th February 2012
Candidates to reserve Test dates : 29th Feb. – 20th March 2012
Candidates to download the Hall tickets with instructions: 14th April – 30th April 2012
BITSAT Online tests : 10th May – 9th June 2012
Candidates to apply for admission with 12th marks and Preferences to Degree programmes : 19th May – 30th June 2012
Admit List and Wait List announcement : 1st July 2012

BITSAT-2012 Test Format:

BITSAT-2012 will be of total 3-hour duration (without break). The test consists of four parts:

Part I : Physics
Part II : Chemistry
Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning
Part IV : Mathematics

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with choice of four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1mark). No marks are awarded for questions not attempted. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer. There will be 150 questions in all.
